The Charleston County Aviation Authorityawarded Allied Aviation the contract toprovide fueling services, including tankfarm management and into-plane servicesat Charleston International Airport (CHS)effective August 1, 2011. The contract termis for five (5) years. The operation fits wellinto the Allied Aviation portfolio of locationsas it strengthens our presence in thesoutheastern United States.

Charleston International Airport is the 25thin Allied Aviation’s global network ofairports. At Charleston, Allied Aviation isresponsible for the management of756,000 gallons of jet fuel storage as wellas providing into-plane fueling operationsfor over 70 departures a day.

In addition to our contract with theCharleston County Aviation Authority, Alliedwill be providing jet fuel storage and qualitycontrol for Boeing Aerospace in conjunctionwith the production of the new 787Dreamliner. Allied Aviation will have a crucialrole in providing these services to Boeing asCharleston will be the main productionfacility for the 787. Many specialrequirements are required in the handling ofthe jet fuel that will be used for the testingand airworthiness of the new aircraft beforethey are delivered to their customers.

Allied Aviation is also providing into-planefueling services for Atlas Air who operatesthe Dreamlifter. The Dreamlifter is a wide-body cargo aircraft and the world’s longest cargo loader.Essentially the aircraft is a modified 747 that was converted into an outsize configuration in order toferry sub-assemblies from Japan and Italy to Charleston.

Charleston International Airport (CHS) is a joint civil-military airport located in the city of NorthCharleston, Charleston County, South Carolina. The airport serves the needs of the entire SouthCarolina Low country. The airport has two runways and is operated under a joint-use agreement withCharleston Air Force Base. The Charleston International Airport is quickly becoming a principaltransportation hub for the southeastern United States and a gateway to international travel.
