Allied Aviation History at YQY:
Airconsol Aviation Services, ULC commenced operations at Sydney Airport in 1995 providing ground handling, de-icing/anti-icing and passengers services. Airconsol has a full line of GSE available and skilled team of employees available to provide a full range of aviation services.
The history of Sydney Airport dates back to 1929 and was used during the Second World War by the Royal Canadian Air Force. In 1946 the Department of Transportation assumed operation of the facility and shortly thereafter scheduled service commenced to the airport. Sydney Airport is located on major air routes serving Atlantic Canada, including oceanic air routes. In recent years the facility is used by several domestic carriers, operating year round or seasonally.
